Scott Brownrigg Board Director Neil MacOmish will be joining an international roster of speakers to discuss minority native languages at Ireland’s biggest festival and summer school on Thursday 1 August.

‘Your Language, Your Place’ is a day of talks dedicated to discussing how minority native languages offer a competitive edge for tourism destinations.

“I look forward to joining a programme of discussions that so closely align with Scott Brownrigg’s current thinking on national, international and sector diversity.”

Neil will be joining a line-up of high-profile figures from across the sectors of tourism, culture and education including: Jill Evans, MEP and Deputy of the Transport and Tourism Committee; Margueritte Perkins, Louisiana Council of Cultural Developments; Patrick Torrent, Executive Director, Catalan Tourist Board; and Harry Connolly, Director, Board Member, Tourism Ireland and Visit Belfast.

Neil’s keynote speech ‘Tourism Masterplanning Inspired by Deep Meaning in Language: The Case of the Ngati Whakaue Tribal Lands in Rotorua, New Zealand’ will present our masterplan for Mount Ngongotaha as a case study. He will explore the connection between language from ethnic minorities and the built form. The same masterplan was recently shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival 2019.

Féile an Phobail was established in 1988 as a direct response to the conflict in the north of Ireland. Its purpose was to celebrate the positive side of the community, its creativity, its energy, its passion for the arts, and for sport. The August Féile is the highlight of Ireland’s festival calendar.

‘Your Language, Your Place’ will take place on Thursday 1 August from 9.30am till late at St Mary’s University College, Belfast. Click for further information
