Scott Brownrigg Associate Dagmar Binsted has been nominated to the RIBA London Council. Voting opens on 14 July 2020.

A strong advocate for teamwork and diversity, her election statement is a call for the architecture profession to be ‘collaborative, adaptable and agile. Only a diverse profession can be fully collaborative and resilient.'

She says: “Recent developments in our society, and current issues such as Climate Change and the Coronavirus pandemic show a real need for agility and cross industry collaboration.”

Dagmar is heavily involved in Scott Brownrigg’s Architecture Apprenticeship scheme, and in standing for RIBA London Council she seeks to help practices deliver apprenticeships by facilitating inter-practice collaboration as well as strengthening links with Universities which provide apprenticeship training. Sitting on RIBA council with a regionally elected seat will give her the opportunity to feed developments from council through to grass roots level in the region. Having chaired an RIBA branch previously, she is keenly aware of the importance of this exchange of information and collaboration taking place.

“Apprenticeships put the power of education firmly in the hands of the employer. We have the opportunity to finally bridge the chasm between practice and academia.

I am involved in the apprenticeship trailblazer process within Scott Brownrigg. It provides a great showcase for what we can achieve in collaboration. The RIBA and ARB collaborated effectively and achieved so much.” [Dagmar Binsted, Associate, Scott Brownrigg]

She joins the other candidates to vie for the six available seats. The successful candidates will serve on the RIBA Regional Councils for a 3 year term beginning on 1 September 2020.
